Find Your Strength in God's Fatherhood — 2 Corinthians 6:18

“I will be to you a Father. You will be to me sons and daughters,' says the Lord Almighty."” 2 Corinthians 6:18

Have you ever felt small in a big, overwhelming world? Sometimes life demands more of us than we think we can give. Bills pile up, relationships strain, health worries creep in, and we wonder if we're strong enough to handle it all.

But there's a promise in Scripture that changes everything: God says, "I will be to you a Father." Not a distant judge. Not a cosmic force. A Father. And that simple truth is where real strength begins.

Reflection

The promise in 2 Corinthians 6:18 isn't about muscles or willpower. It's about belonging. When God calls you His son or daughter, He's telling you that you're not alone, not abandoned, and not left to figure things out by yourself. You have a Father who sees you, knows you, and claims you as His own.

Think about what a good father does. He stands with you when you're afraid. He believes in you before you believe in yourself. He catches you when you fall and helps you up again. He doesn't remove all difficulty from your life, but He walks through it with you. This is what God offers—not a problem-free life, but His presence in every problem.

Real strength isn't the absence of fear or struggle. It's knowing you're held by someone infinitely bigger and wiser than yourself. It's being able to face hard things because you're not facing them alone. When you belong to God as His child, you inherit His strength. You're no longer carrying the weight yourself—you're carrying it together with Him.

A prayer

Father, thank You for claiming me as Your own. I want to feel the depth of that relationship today—to know that I'm not just trying harder on my own, but that I'm held by You. Help me believe that Your strength is available to me, not because I deserve it, but because You love me as Your child. Give me courage to face today knowing I belong to You. Amen.

Live it today

Today, when you face something that feels too big, pause and whisper, "I am God's child." Let that identity anchor you. Notice how it shifts your perspective from "I have to handle this alone" to "I face this as God's beloved son/daughter." That simple shift is where strength grows.
