A few honest minutes in God's Word each morning — and an honest account of who makes it.
Daily Scripture Guide is a small, free devotional project. Every morning it publishes one passage of Scripture with a short reflection, a prayer, and one practical step to carry into the day. No login, no paywall, no upsell.
It started from a simple frustration: most mornings begin with a phone screen and a list. Scripture gets pushed to whenever there's time, which often means never. A short, consistent guide — the same shape every day, finished in a few minutes — is easier to keep than an ambitious plan that collapses by week three.
Who's behind it
My name is Matthew Porter. I live in Milford, Connecticut, and I build websites for a living through Walnut Beach Digital. I'm not a pastor, a theologian, or a member of the clergy, and I don't want to present myself as one.
I built this because I wanted it to exist for my own mornings. If it helps yours too, that's the whole point.
How each reflection is written
Plain and up front: the daily reflections are drafted with the help of AI.
The Scripture passages are chosen and set by me. An AI assistant then drafts the reflection, prayer, and application around that passage, following a consistent format. The accompanying artwork is AI-generated as well.
I'm telling you this because you deserve to know the origin of something you're inviting into your morning devotions. Plenty of devotional content is produced this way without saying so. I'd rather you hear it here than wonder later.
What this does not change: the Scripture is Scripture. Passages are quoted from the World English Bible, a public-domain modern translation, and reproduced exactly as they read there. Each reflection is anchored to the text rather than to opinion or trend. If you're studying closely, it's always worth reading the passage in its surrounding chapter too.
If you ever read something here that strikes you as off, unclear, or unfaithful to the passage, please tell me. That feedback genuinely improves the site, and I read every message.
What this site is — and isn't
- It is a short daily prompt to sit with Scripture, aimed at anyone who wants a simple, repeatable rhythm.
- It is not a substitute for your own Bible reading, your church, or your pastor. A three-minute reflection is a doorway, not the room.
- It is not counseling or professional advice. If you're carrying something heavy, please reach out to a pastor, a counselor, or someone who loves you.
What it costs
Nothing. There's no paywall, no login, and nothing is sold here. The site carries a small amount of advertising to help cover hosting — you can switch advertising off in cookie preferences and everything works exactly the same. Your email address is never sold, rented, or shared — see the Privacy Policy. Subscribing uses confirmed opt-in, so you'll never be added without clicking a link, and every email carries an unsubscribe link that works immediately.
