Nothing Too Hard for God | Jeremiah 32:17 Devotional
“"Ah Lord GOD! Behold, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for you.” Jeremiah 32:17
Some mornings we wake up and the weight feels crushing. Maybe it's a relationship that seems beyond repair, a health diagnosis that steals our peace, or a dream that looks more impossible than it did yesterday. In those moments, our strength runs dry—but God's never does.
The prophet Jeremiah knew something about impossible circumstances. Yet in the middle of his own despair, he spoke words that still echo with power today: the Creator of the heavens and earth has made everything by His great power and outstretched arm. And here's the promise that changes everything: nothing is too hard for Him.
Reflection
When Jeremiah speaks of God's power, he's not talking about abstract strength. He's pointing to the God who spoke the cosmos into existence, who stretched out His arms and the stars came to be. This is the God we serve. The same God who held back the Red Sea, who raised the dead, who turned water into wine—He is the one we're invited to trust with our impossible things.
Notice what Jeremiah does here: he rehearses the truth before he needs it most. He doesn't wait until everything falls apart to remember God's character. Instead, he looks at what God has already done—the heavens and the earth—and lets that become his proof. If God can create and sustain everything we see around us, surely He can handle what weighs on our hearts.
The beautiful part? God doesn't ask us to muster up super-human confidence or manufacture belief out of thin air. He simply invites us to look at the evidence already around us. Every sunrise is a reminder. Every breath is proof. Every moment we wake up is a testimony to a God whose power has never diminished and never will.
Lord God, when my strength fails and my situation looks impossible, help me remember who You are. You've made the heavens and the earth by Your power. You hold all things together. Strengthen my faith today. Help me rest in the truth that nothing—absolutely nothing—is too hard for You. Thank You for Your endless power and Your nearness to me in this moment.
Today, when you face something that feels impossible, pause and name one thing God has already done in your life or in the world around you. Write it down. Let that evidence become your anchor, reminding you that the God who did that is the same God who walks with you through this.
