Keep Yourself in God's Love: Jude 1:21 Daily Devotional
“Keep yourselves in God's love, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life.” Jude 1:21
Have you ever worried that you might drift away from God? That somehow, through weakness or failure, you'd find yourself outside of His love? Today's verse speaks directly to that fear—and completely transforms it.
Jude invites us into something remarkable: not a love we have to earn or maintain through perfect behavior, but a love we simply keep ourselves within, like staying under the shelter of a roof on a rainy day.
Reflection
The phrase "keep yourselves in God's love" doesn't mean God's love is fragile or conditional. Rather, it's an invitation to remain aware, responsive, and connected to a love that's already surrounding us. Think of it like staying in touch with a dear friend—the friendship exists whether you talk today or not, but the relationship deepens when you nurture it intentionally.
What makes this possible? Looking toward "the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ." Jesus is the door through which God's love reaches us most fully. When we're discouraged, ashamed, or feeling distant, we turn our eyes toward His mercy—not His judgment. In Jesus, we encounter a love that doesn't punish our mistakes but invites us closer to heal and restore us.
Eternal life, as Jude reminds us, isn't just a future promise. It begins now, in the present reality of being loved, known, and accepted by God through Christ. Every day is an opportunity to choose to remain in that love, to rest in it, and to let it reshape how we see ourselves and others.
Lord Jesus, help me feel the reality of Your love today. When I doubt or feel far from You, turn my eyes toward Your mercy. I want to remain in Your love—not through striving, but through trust. Thank You for making a way back to the Father's heart through Your grace. Keep me anchored in You. Amen.
Today, pause once and simply ask yourself: "Am I resting in God's love right now, or am I trying to earn it?" If you've drifted into performance mode, gently redirect your attention to Jesus' mercy. Speak it aloud: "I am loved. I am forgiven. I am secure in Christ." Let that truth reshape your next decision.
