Your Hope Will Not Be Cut Off | Proverbs 23:18

We live in a world that loves to shake our confidence. Circumstances change. Plans fall through. People disappoint us. In those moments, it's easy to wonder if our hope is fragile—if it can really hold up under pressure.

But Solomon gives us something steadier to hold onto. He reminds us that when our hope is rooted in God, it isn't just wishful thinking. It's a secure, unbreakable anchor for our souls.

The promise "your hope will not be cut off" isn't about life being easy. It's about the nature of trusting God. When we place our confidence in Him—not in our circumstances, our abilities, or other people—we're building on bedrock. God doesn't change. His faithfulness doesn't depend on how we feel on any given Tuesday or whether everything goes according to our plan.

This kind of hope is different from optimism. Optimism says, "I think things will probably work out." Biblical hope says, "God is faithful, and I'm trusting Him—no matter what." It's a confidence that stays steady even when the ground shakes around us, because it's not rooted in the ground. It's rooted in God.

When Solomon tells us our hope will not be cut off, he's inviting us into the safest place possible: complete trust in a God who is entirely trustworthy. This future hope isn't something someone can steal from you, something you can lose, or something that will betray you in the end. It's secured by the character of God Himself.
