See God's Great Love: Called Children of God | 1 John 3:1

Have you ever stopped to really consider what it means to be called a child of God? Not just in theory, but in your everyday life—when you're struggling, celebrating, doubting, or celebrating again? John invites us to pause and see this truth clearly: the Father has lavished His love on us in such a way that we now belong to His family.

This identity changes everything. It's not earned through performance or popularity. It's a gift so great that the world often can't understand it.

Reflection

When John says 'see how great a love,' he's asking us to really look—to behold and comprehend something extraordinary. God's love isn't casual or distant. It's active and generous. It moves Him to call us His children, not His servants, not His subjects, but His own family. This is the foundation of our worth and our belonging.

Notice something important: John tells us the world won't understand this. The world didn't understand Jesus, and the world won't fully understand us either. That's not a tragedy—it's actually a marker that we belong somewhere else now. We've been adopted into God's kingdom, and we're learning to see life through heaven's eyes, not the world's eyes.

This doesn't mean we withdraw or become cold toward others. It means our deepest identity is no longer shaped by grades, paychecks, social media likes, or what people think of us. We are loved by God. Completely. Unconditionally. And that love is enough.
