Fear of the Lord Is Your Treasure | Isaiah 33:6

“There will be stability in your times, abundance of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge. The fear of the LORD is your treasure.” Isaiah 33:6

We live in uncertain times. Job security shifts, relationships change, health surprises us. We chase stability through savings accounts, retirement plans, and careful planning—all good things. But Isaiah offers something deeper: a stability that doesn't depend on circumstances.

Today's verse reminds us that the most valuable treasure we can possess isn't something we can hold in our hands. It's something we hold in our hearts.

Reflection

"Fear of the LORD is your treasure" might sound strange at first. We usually think of treasure as gold or jewels, things that make us rich and comfortable. But this kind of fear isn't about being afraid. It's about reverence, awe, and deep respect for God. When we approach Him with this attitude—recognizing His greatness and our need for Him—we discover something incredible happens.

The verse tells us that when the fear of the Lord anchors us, we experience stability, salvation, wisdom, and knowledge. These aren't luxuries; they're the foundations of a truly secure life. Stability means peace in the midst of chaos. Salvation means rescue and wholeness. Wisdom and knowledge mean we can navigate life's complexities with clarity. When God is our treasure, we're not shaken by what the world shakes.

This treasure can't be lost in a market crash or taken from us by circumstance. It grows stronger as we trust God more deeply. The person who fears the Lord—who treasures Him above all else—discovers that their life is held in the safest possible hands.

A prayer

Lord, help me see You as my greatest treasure. When I'm tempted to chase empty securities, remind me that reverence for You is where true stability lives. Strengthen my trust in Your goodness and wisdom. Help me fear You in the best way—with awe, respect, and love. Thank You for offering me a treasure that can never be taken away.

Live it today

Today, pause three times and ask yourself: What am I trusting more than God right now? A job, a relationship, money, health? Consciously choose to place that concern in God's hands, acknowledging His greatness and trustworthiness. Let this small act realign your treasure.
