All Things New: Faith in God's Promise | Revelation 21:5

“He who sits on the throne said, "Behold, I am making all things new." He said, "Write, for these words of God are faithful and true."” Revelation 21:5

Have you ever felt like your life was too damaged to repair? Like the broken pieces were beyond fixing, and starting over seemed impossible? Today's verse offers something your weary heart might desperately need: a glimpse of God's heart toward renewal and restoration.

In Revelation, we see the throne of heaven itself declaring a truth that steadies our faith when everything else feels unstable. God doesn't discard what's broken—He makes it new.

Reflection

The one sitting on the throne isn't distant or indifferent to our struggles. He sees every crack, every wound, every place where life has worn us down. And His response? "Behold, I am making all things new." This isn't a distant promise for some far-off eternity only—it's a declaration about His nature and His work, both then and now. When we place our faith in this promise, we're anchoring ourselves to the character of God Himself.

What makes this promise so powerful is what follows: "Write, for these words are faithful and true." God is asking us to record this, to remember it, to let it shape our understanding of reality. These aren't wishful thoughts or empty encouragement. They are the words of the one who holds all authority, spoken with absolute reliability. Our faith isn't built on feelings or circumstances—it rests on His unchanging faithfulness.

Think about what areas of your life feel stuck, broken, or beyond hope. A relationship that seems irreparable. A habit you can't break. A dream that died. A wound that won't heal. The God who sits on the throne sees it all, and He is actively at work making things new. Your faith doesn't require you to see how yet. It only requires you to trust that He is both able and willing, because His words are faithful and true.

A prayer

Lord, help me believe that you are truly making all things new—not just in eternity, but in my life today. When I feel discouraged or hopeless, remind me of your faithfulness. Give me the grace to trust your word, even when I can't yet see the transformation. Thank you for seeing what's broken in me and choosing restoration instead of rejection.

Live it today

Today, identify one area of your life that feels broken or beyond repair, and write it down. Then write beside it: "God is making this new." Carry this with you as a physical reminder of the promise you're choosing to believe.
